Brief History: The only Church House Inn within the Dartmoor National Park boundary, the building was originally erected by and for the stonemasons who constructed the adjacent St. Mary’s Church and its visiting clergy. The inn has continued to serve the local community and visitors since 1329, offering comfortable lodgings, good, local food and ales and an interesting selection of wines at fair prices and in unspoilt, traditional surroundings. We look forward to the next 700 years!
Accommodation: Six bedrooms, all en-suite or with private bathroom, central heating, television and tea making facilities. A put-you-up bed for an accompanying child is available. Well behaved pets with own beds welcome - £4.00 per night. Most rooms with fine views.

Surroundings: Set amidst some of the most beautiful countryside in England, Holne is a tiny, quintessential , largely stone-built village, five minutes from open moorland and exquisite views down into the river Dart valley or to the coast of Torbay and Dartmouth.
Attractions: Apart from the countryside itself, there almost limitless things to please, catering for those with an interest in wild life (in zoo or in the open), landscape, walking, photography, gardens, domestic farms, ponies, otters and butterflies, antiques, old trains, Victorian England, miniature villages, trekking, cycling, the National Trust or English Heritage, the sea and boats . . . whew! . . . and so on!!. Ring for more and we’ll gladly suggest an itinerary and further sources of information for your stay.
Directions: Holne stands 4 miles distant and 300 feet up from the A38 Devon Expressway, approximately half way between and 24 miles from both Exeter and Plymouth.
From Exeter take the 2nd Ashburton turn-off, signed Princetown (DON’T turn into Ashburton itself, unless you particularly wish to). Travel about 2.5 miles along this road in the direction of Princetown and Two Bridges, turning left where signed to Holne and Hexworthy, at the top of a steep little wooded hill – just after the Holne Chase Hotel; after 1.25 miles follow the sign to the left down into the village centre.
From Plymouth take the 2nd Buckfastleigh/Buckfast Abbey turn-off. Follow the signs to Buckfast and its abbey, turning right at the first mini-roundabout, left at the second then up the steep hill past the entrance to the abbey and right at the top of the hill – signed to Scoriton & Holne. Follow this lane, without turning off, for about 3.5 miles and you will come into the village centre.
The Church House stands on the cross roads.
